Tattoo

Well my life has been changing quite a bit. I have two jobs and will be going into my second year of university; and now I have something that isn't going to change. I have a tattoo!

To be honest I think I'm more comfortable with change than I am with something constant or permanent, like a tattoo. I have gotten so use to everything changing that when something becomes constant or permanent I feel nervous or anxious. Every time I look at my tattoo in the mirror I say to myself what have I done! Yet every time I look in the mirror I love what I see and what I see is me.

Something as permanent as a tattoo, a lot of time, thought, and care has to be put into it. My tattoo is a symbol of inspiration for me. The lyrics, "If you stop and think, you might start to sink," are a reminder to live my one life the way I feel I need to live it. With every opportunity that is presented take it. To not pass up one in a life time chances to be happy. Everything happens for a reason!

Introducing Me!

Hey there! I started this blog about one year ago and I haven’t done much with it (unfortunately). There was so much that happened this past year I could have wrote about but didn’t because I wasn’t inspired to. I believe I have found some inspiration and would like to give this blog another shot… I’m going to start all over from the beginning!

I’m DarciJean4Life. I’m now 19 and I still live at home with my mum while I’m doing my Human Rights degree at university. But that’s okay, I’m trying to save my money so I can explore the world or eventually move to a different city. Right now I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; if you don’t know where that is, it’s the right in the middle of Canada and the home of the Winnipeg Jets. I’m a hockey fan but I don’t play and I don’t cheer for my home team, well ever since the league and team changed; that’s another story though.

I’m the type of person that, more often than not, needs some kind of inspiration to done things like this blog! Now that I’m growing up essentially I’m seeing all types of opportunities and getting inspired to do things that make me happy or things I wouldn’t normally do every day. I try to embrace change and create change in my life; like Charles Trippy once said, “the only thing in life that is constant is change,” or something like that. So this post, I guess was inspired by Youtubers!

This time around I’m going to try to post a minimum of once a week! If you liked what you read let me know and don’t be shy about leaving a comment giving me advice or even just to say hi! Also I want to know what inspires you?

University Life

I am a first year university student. I'm in my second term and I'll admit I have no life now, but thats okay… Well I have a life but I spent most of my time with my nose in a text book, rewriting notes, or doing research on the internet because sometimes I have no clue what is going on. With that being said I would encourage everyone to get an education and I have some tips for first year students or future students:

Tip 1) Take classes that interest you!
I'm taking a political science class and I'm not interested in politics at all so I find that class boring and useless. However I'm sticking with it to expand my thinking.

Tip 2) If you want a life outside of university studying don't take a full course load!
I am taking five courses each term and I find all I do is study, study, and work on the weekend. It was hard for me to manage my life between studying and non-student life. I seemed to have pushed aside my studies in the first term, but the experience made me change the way I schedule and organize myself.

Tip 3) Make a plan and stick to it!
I've changed my plan and it seems to be working for me. I have two to three classes a day with lots of time in-between. My first term in university I went home on my breaks and that wasn't working. So now I stay at the university and get my work done so I could go home at the end of the day and not have to worry about doing homework in the evenings at home. Even thou my days are longer I can enjoy my evenings.

Tip 4) Keep organized!
I find being oraginzed is really helpful and can be done in many different ways. I keep all my notes in separate notebooks. And I make sure I keep all my university stuff together at home so I'm not running around in the morning searching for books.

Tip 5) Healthy lifestyle!
Not everyone is concerned with their health and neither am I per say. However I find when I eat healthy foods during the day and on the weekends I just feel good about myself. I also do small workouts during the week and I find that even if I run for 20 minutes a day I have the energy to get me through the long weekdays.

Tip 6) Keep up on reading!
I have admit I don't like reading, never really have but in university there is a lot of reading. Not all of the reading is interesting even if the class is interesting. So I've started to highlight my textbooks while I read so when I have to go back and read the textbook again I will know what I have to reread. Rereading is a good way to study too!

For now thats all the tips that I have… I am not saying I'm an expert on have to get through university and this is what works for me. It might not work for everyone but everyone experiences things differently. If theres any tips that work for you that I haven't included let me know! I'd love suggestions.

Let's Talk Music! (Rock)

Music is the greatest thing ever invented. It's a universal language. It doesn't matter where you live, what language you speak, or who you are. Music is enjoyed by everyone young and old. I must say I am obsessed with music. I'm almost always listening to music and if I'm not I find I have the weirdest songs stuck in my head.

I listen to many genres of music, but for now I'm just going to talk about rock music. The main reason for todays topic is last night I went to Airbourne, a rock concert, and this summer I've seen about four rock concerts. I'd have to say that rock concerts are usually the best kind of concerts to go to. Why? Well I find that rock bands don't play pre-recoded music so its always a live show. What I mean is there is never any lip singing and if the lead singer stops singing its usually to put in a guitar solo.

Back to the Airbourne concert, it was really good but a little strange. The first band was Bleeker Ridge, They're from Ontario, Canada and worth checking out. So they were doing their thing on stage when out of no where a guy in an elephant costume ran on stage. It was super funny and I was so surprised that the band kept playing like nothing happened when it was quite clear they didn't see the guy coming. After Bleeker Ridge finished the song they were playing the lead singer said, "is that a rhinoceros?! Oh it's French Fry the elephant..." Um okay?? If that wasn't weird enough, Airbourne was up next.

Airbourne was great and if you haven't heard about them they are from Australia. All four members of the band had the classic rock and roll, long hair that they would whip back and forth. Which was kind of gross because I could see the sweat flying everywhere and I was happy I wasn't in the crowd close to the stage. Not only was the hair sweat flying, the lead singer of Airbourne decided to smash not one, not two, but three cans of beer over his head till the can was a fountain spraying the crowd. I know I was at a rock concert but I thought that was a little much. Also I want to say he gave himself a concussion.

I really enjoy rock concerts and rock music in general. Like many bands say, rock and roll is a way of life. I grew up listening to rock music and at times to me it just sounds like noise but its noise with rhythm. I can never resist tapping my foot along with the music. What I like the most about rock music is that the sound varies from the classic rock from Kiss to songs with meaning from Shinedown. Theory of a Deadman sings mostly about women and Three Days Grace always sounds angry but with meaning.

If you don't like rock music thats perfectly fine. I listen to every thing so there will be many Let's Talk Music to come. Until next time have a lovely day internet, or evening, whenever you read this!!

My First Blog!!

I have no clue what I'm doing or what I'm about to do. All I know is I'm starting a blog or an online public diary I suppose. Either way I have a feeling that this year is going to be a big year for me.

Let me introduce myself! I am Darci, just Darci no need to know my last name a the moment. I recently turned 18 which in Manitoba, Canada that is the legal drinking age. For me its not about being able to drink, although I've had my share, its about the freedom. Unfortunately with freedom comes responsibility and I'm afraid with starting university I'm going to have more responsibility than freedom.

I have decided to write about my life for all to see for a couple reasons, one I need to find a new hobby and this keeps me occupied. Two I spend most of my free time on my computer watching/reading other peoples blog's and that's where the interest came from.

I knew this first blog was going to be crappy but I had to get it over with sooner rather then later. I'm not expecting much to come out of this first post, but I hope to get better as I post more and more. I'm going to try to post daily about some different topics. The topics would be my interests, for example I'm a big hockey fan so I'll probably have some things to say when the season starts. I'm also addicted to music so when I hear of a new band I just have to talk about it, and I love to travel. I already have plans to do some traveling this year. Other then that I'll be writing about how to survive first year of university.

I promise my next blog post will be better. Have a good evening people of the internet!
